Match Highlights

Southampton 2-3 Liverpool

The Reds came from behind in what proved to be a tricky fixture on the South Coast at St Mary’s to win 3-2 and open up an 8 point lead against Man City. Who we play next at Anfield in a weeks time.

Liverpool made hard work of this one in all honesty as Southampton were making mistake after mistake at the back gifting us chances to score. Which we were just not taking until Dominic Szoboszlai latched on to a poor clearance to curl a left footer in off the far left post.

VAR was to strike against us once again.. Surprisingly.. When referees are saying ‘Don’t worry Liverpool will never win the Premier League’. You kind of get why these decisions go against us. Not that we weren’t aware of this corruption before Mr Coote’s video..

Still when Robbo fouled the player outside the box it was Clear & Obvious it was NOT a penalty to everyone in the UK and Worldwide watching their TV’s.. Kelleher done his best to save it but couldn’t get to the rebound.

Saints deservedly took the lead with a quick counter which we have been very good at defending under Slot. Then the Mo Salah show began as he clipped a Gravenberch through ball past the on rushing keeper.

Then he scored from the spot in style after a handball in the box. Sure we made hard work of this but these fixtures after the third International Break are tough as players travel back from all over the globe. Another problem the FA need to sort out along with the standard of refereeing.

So you have to grind these results out. Which we did today and the league table looks great as we go into that City clash. Win that and we put ourselves in a great position..
