Match Highlights

Brentford 0-2 Liverpool

Liverpool showed that with a bit of patience and a touch of class you can win tough away games in the Premier League. Beating Brentford 2-0 at the Gtech..

The game was as expected. Liverpool had the majority of possession not unlike Forest away the game before. While like Forest, Brentford relied on quick counter attacks and in all honesty Brentford looked far more dangerous. Wissa & Mbuemo in particular are explosive, direct and very dangerous.

So a clean sheet here was vital. As once again we knew we would get chances. 40 plus chances give or take which is some achievement by any team. Let alone the in this league. It’s a credit to us and our style of play. We also knew or rather hoped going into injury time we were likely to take one. Or two..!

The scorer of the said two goals was Darwin Nunez and we could not be happier for the guy. I was a striker so I know what he was going through to an extent. My goal droughts never lasted this long but when that one goes in after a few games without the relief is unreal..

Also being a striker you know when the first goes in after a drought another goes in pretty quick. The first an instinctive close range shot under the keeper after great work from Trent. The second laid on after a quick counter where the Uruguayan showed cool composure to take a touch and fire high into the net.

The timing of these goals were massive as we stretched our lead at the top with a game in hand with the added bonus of Arsenal drawing at home to Villa after going 2-0 up.

These two tough away games are a show of where we are at under Slot. We dominated possession in both and racked up chance after chance. Had we kept a clean sheet against Forest we would have won there too. Yet we are in a very good position in all competitions.

So more of the same let’s keep the goals out and rack up some more clean sheets and show a bit more class up front. As for Nunez we hope this kick starts your Liverpool career brother. Believe in yourself. Keep getting in positions and having a go. It was just bad luck that got you into the drought and we hope that luck has turned around.
